Located in the picturesque village of La Santa, El Quemao is a delightful seafood restaurant that captures the essence of authentic Canarian cuisine. Its prime spot on C. el Quemao, just steps away from the vibrant ocean, makes it the perfect retreat to enjoy fresh local flavors while soaking up the charm of island life.

El Quemao prides itself on offering a variety of seafood dishes that are both delicious and affordable. You can expect to find fish brought in directly from local fishermen, ensuring that every bite is as fresh as possible. Diners rave about the rich, flavorful fish soup that bursts with oceanic goodness, and the paella, which offers a perfect medley of textures and tastes. Guests can tailor their meals to their appetite by choosing between small, medium, or large portion sizes—an exceptional feature that encourages sampling multiple dishes!

The atmosphere at El Quemao is casual and lively, with seating closely arranged to create an inviting and bustling environment, perfect for socializing. Whether you’re enjoying a cold beer or a warm cup of coffee, the ambiance adds an extra layer of enjoyment to your meal. The friendly staff are known for their quick service, even during peak hours, which has left many diners feeling impressed and satisfied. However, it’s a street-side dining experience, so be prepared for the hustle and bustle of La Santa as you savor your meal.

Many customers have left glowing reviews highlighting the exceptional value for money and the unwavering quality of food. Richard Pope humorously notes that while the waiter may have a “miserable” demeanor, the seafood is undeniably worth it. Inim Naldoni praised the establishment’s flexibility with portion sizes and the freshness of the fish, reinforcing why so many flock to this local gem. Others like MHE Training have lauded the restaurant as the ideal spot to unwind and watch the world go by, further testament to the relaxed spirit within the establishment.

If you're looking for a memorable dining experience on the island, El Quemao should be at the top of your list. It’s a place where local flavors, friendly service, and an authentic atmosphere converge, promising a delightful meal that won’t break the bank.

If you like really, really decent, well priced seafood served to you quite promptly by a miserable waiter in a parking space on the street, go here. A memorable visit for a variety of reasons.

Lovely local food! You can chose between small/medium/large portions for most of the menu, which is amazing for when you want to try different things. The fish is always very fresh, you can see it brought in directly from the fisherman. Very good prices. Staff is always very friendly, and fast. The only down side is the location, since it's right on the street (as most of La Santa's restaurants), but even so this always is my go-to restaurant!

Fantastic place to just sit and watch the world go by with a cold beer or a cup of coffee. Proper local food that tastes delicious and so fresh. Everything on the menu is delicious. I've eaten here many times, and I've never been disappointed.

This is definitely one of the best places we found on the island. The food is absolutely amazing — very simple, full of flavor, and served quickly. The prices are also very reasonable for what you get. A lot of people mention the service. We came for lunch when it was really busy, and honestly, I was impressed by how the staff managed to serve so many people while constantly on the move. Just don’t expect personalized service. It is more about the food, the good vibes, and enjoying the moment. Better to get a table outside if you can, but there are also indoor seats for lunch, which are perfectly fine. We came back twice because everything we tried was delicious.

I hope they didn’t mind me asking them to wipe the table twice, but after that, we had a very pleasant experience. The fish soup was a highlight—rich and full of flavor. The local cheese, fried cod, and paella were good—one of the rare places that offers single and even half portions. The seating is close, creating a friendly, bustling atmosphere, and it’s clearly a local favorite.

Absolutely the best food we’ve had on the island! Everything is made from fresh ingredients – you can tell even by the amazing house-made sauce, which is incredibly tasty. The shrimp are the best we've ever eaten, and the "karabinieri" are unforgettable. The fish soup is full of flavor, the octopus is cooked to perfection, and all the fish are freshly caught just 50 meters from the restaurant. On top of that, the staff are friendly, kind, and welcoming. A truly special place – our number one address on the island! I wanted to add some photos of the food, but it was so delicious we ate it before we even took out our phones!

Fantastic all round. Lovely atmosphere, service very good despite the restaurant being very busy. Tapas absolutely amazing, many choices, each dish excellent. Prices are reasonable as is the house wine. Just give it a try. Can highly recommend.
